AU Background: This Ridley comes from an alternate reality where the events of Other M did not happen, and instead recognizes the events of the 2002 Metroid manga as canon for Samus' background - the biggest differences being that Adam Malkovich is not the cold, indifferent man in Other M, but is instead the more relatable fellow seen in the manga, who openly jokes around with Samus. The existence of other supporting Other M characters (Ian Malkovich, Anthony Higgs) is neither confirmed nor denied by the manga. If events come to pass where those characters must be referenced, they will be done so in the spirit of how the manga portrayed characters. In regards to Ridley himself, he is actually given a personality and the ability to speak in this manga.
Personality: Ridley has power and knows it, and this gives him a rather cocky nature. He openly brags and gloats to those who oppose him when confronting them, be it in combat or just speaking with them. If he's challenged, he's quick to attempt to silence his challenger via intimidation or via force if needed. He's intelligent, but lacking in common sense - a clever character can outwit him, as he tends to use his strength or rank to get a point across rather than any smarts he has.

He has a firm belief in the idea that might makes right and that the strongest should be in charge, which may explain how he got his rank in the Space Pirates' military. He's also an enormous jerk, using any and all emotional advantages he can against an opponent if it will give him an upper hand - whether it's needed or not. He's a fair bit psychotic, greatly enjoying combat, as well as the dirty tricks he pulls in the process - and encourages his soldiers to do the same: "Kill as much as you want! Have fun!"

Ridley is an incredibly cruel being as well - when he first encounters Samus as a child, she attempts to befriend him. He promptly crushes this idea, and makes it very, very plain to her that he's going to kill her, berating her as he attempts. Years later, when they run into each other again, and he finds out just who she is, he attacks her, and takes a great deal of glee in bringing up the memories of his attack on her home colony, sending her into a fit of PTSD, and once she's rendered catatonic, holds her up to those around them that had thought she would beat him, and demeans them for putting their hopes in a "pitiful human".

For all his power, however, Ridley seems to fear death - and when presented with someone who poses an actual threat to him, he begins to break down, attempting to rely more on cheap tricks and berating his opponents to try and throw them off. He's also very, very good at surviving, and goes to incredible lengths to make sure that he survives most any encounter. In peaceful times, he's generally calm and collected, but easily excitable if something seems like it will be amusing to him.
Abilities: Ridley is a lightning bruiser - very strong and very fast, but he has a rather low damage tolerance. He's capable of flight via wings on his back. His hands and feet are clawed, and the point of his tail carries a sharp barb that is often utilized as a weapon. He also has two powerful breath weapons - fireballs and a plasma beam. Ridley is also absolutely ruthless in combat, he will exploit every opening he can get - mental, emotional, or physical as best he can to get an edge. If someone can rattle him, however, it's quite difficult for him to recover. He relishes being in control of the situation, and if he's not, that unseats his confidence quite easily.
